An Invitation: Write to us
We invite you to write to us about what is happening where you are, whether you are inside, adjacent to, or simply concerned about financialized higher education. We would like to hear about, inter alia: imposed austerity campaigns; varieties of corporate-style managerialism; endowment investments and contradictions, including excessive fees getting paid to private-finance asset managers; debt issuances; incubators (public-private partnerships that use universities to make start-up risk public before privatizing profits); and, of course, scandals and shenanigans. We also welcome reports about efforts to organize, including problems, set-backs, and--especially—successes, anything from communication strategies to specific actions (demonstrations, strikes). We hope to use the Recognitions project not just to report on such matters, but—more importantly—to provide a venue for connecting together local efforts separated geographically so we—all of us—can learn from each other. Email us kgrotke@patternrecognitionresearch.com and/or stephenhk@patternrecognitionresearch.com.
